Easy Tzatziki

Basic tzatziki proportions are easy to follow. You can add or subtract any of the ingredients to suit you own taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 1 tbsp. fresh chopped dill
  • 1 English cucumber, grated (see tips)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Mix together well and allow to stand for a few hours to blend flavours.

Tip #1: I recommend using Greek yogurt for your tzatziki because it is thick. If you use regular yogurt, you will need to strain it through cheesecloth – messy and time consuming. Some people also add a tablespoon of mint to their tzatziki. 

Tip #2: Some recipes recommend squeezing the water out of the grated cucumber before adding. If you use regular cucumber, you should definitely seed it and draw the water out by sprinkling it with a tablespoon of salt and leaving it sit for 30 minutes before adding to your tzatziki.
